Discussion:
Spherize, warp, filter

There are plenty of Photoshop filters available for use with Fireworks, but
none of them seem to include Spherize since this is a standard filter included
with PS. I would like to be able to warp/distort a bitmap (not text or
vectors!) in both a convex and concave manner... as if laying the image over a
bump map. Complexity is not required, though...simply wraping around a sphere
would be sufficient.

Can anyone point me to a filter or bundle? (maybe even a bundle intended to
replace/restore the standard PS filters in the event they become corrupt?)

NOTE: I do not own Photoshop, so must be FW compatible.

Thank you for any ideas!

Hey zknight,

This thread should get you started:

Fireworks compatible plugins
http://www.fireworksguru.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31

Note, I'll also file an Enhancement Request for Spherize and Warp and see what
we can do going forward.

Thanks Alan!

After an entire day of exploring those lists and their associated sidetracks I
found some great stuff, including some should-be-standard extensions like a
"Patterns And Textures" panel (shame on Macromedia for the way texture choosing
is handled without). But, can you believe that after all that I only found one
filter that will perform a spherical warp? And that's a lens correction filter
so I'm using it in opposition to its intended purpose to get what I need!

I've always wondered why Macromedia never offered filters of their own,
included or otherwise, to match those of the standard PS. Oh well, thanks again!

Thank you, Sam!

I actually have that and it was one of the first things I tried, but it's
designed to do the oppposite -- flatten a spherical image... in no less than
600 different ways I think, heheh.
