I know this may not be directly related to the fireworks program, but if any of you use Microsoft office and have ever had to add a "copyright symbol" ( a 'c' with a circle around it ), how do I do this?

It is a webdings font?

SElect the Text tool and click on the canvas. Press Alt and type 0169 on
your numeric keypad. When you release the Alt key, the character will
appear.

Great book, Linda. I learned 'everything' I know from it and have found nothing comparable since.

I tried your method. When I hold down the alt key and then try to type the numbers, I get a "system ding" from my OS and I am not allowed to type (while holding the alt key down). Am I doing something wrong?

John,

For some reason that I've never been able to fathom the Alt+0169 doesn't
work for me in FW either.
Have you tried simply copying the © symbol in Word and pasting into FWs?
There is also an extension available from
http://www.phireworx.com/ called Character panel.

Assuming you are using Windows: click the "Start" button. In "Run" field,
type "charmap" and press enter. You will see "Character Map" app, allowing
you to browse fonts and choose, then copy some specific characters to
clipboard. Maybe you're trying to use the font that doesn't have (C) char.
In this case, try to find similar font that does contain it. Just be sure
that you assign proper font for that particular char once pasted into FW.

In Word and other Office programs you can select from the Insert menu "special characters" (not sure what it's called exactly since I'm using a different language from English.

In HTML you can add a copyright symbol, by typing © in the code where you want the symbol to appear.

In WordPerfect you can insert a special character by pressing CTRL+W.

Alternatively you can select a character from any font by looking it up in
Start > (All) Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Special Characters.

Select your character and copy it into the text.
