Fuzzy or Blurred Text
(too old to reply)

I've read the other post, but it didn't really seem to answer the question.
The issue is that text, saved by itself with a transparent background always
comes though as fuzzy or blurry when placed into a colored div (or body) tag in
dreamweaver .. (This is not the case on a white background)
However, if it's given a colored background or placed on an object such as a
rectangle or oval. It appears sharp and clear. Why is this? Is it expected
behavior?

How are you exporting the text? Are you saving it as a GIF with an index or
alpha transparency? Have you tried exporting it as a PNG 32 file? How
important is size to you?

Unless you are using a pixel font with no anti-aliasing, don't create
your text graphics on a transparent background. Do them on a background
that matched the color of the page you will be putting them on, and then
export with Index transparency. Alternatively, add a matte color that
matches the background of the HTML page and export with Alpha transparency.

Linda,

Thanks you. However that leaves a problem if your text button hangs in front
of a flash movie as mine does. So to do that, I have to use a pixel font with
anti-aliasing?

Thanks for answering!

Never anti-alias pixel fonts! Turn off Auto Kern too. Why do you have to
make things difficult for yourself by putting something in front of a
Flash movie? :-)

Because it was designed that way... I actually decided to do the entire site
in Flash and fixed that problem. But I wanted to know if there was a way I
could do it in Fireworks and HTML and Flash.

Thanks again!

Place the Flash object in a div, then place the another transparent that overlaps it. Then you can put whatever content you want in the overlapping div.
